Competitive and Customised Fees

While we don’t operate with a fixed fee structure, we do offer estimates based on the specifics of your case, First Home packages and a set fee for Wills and Enduring Powers of Attorney. Each transaction has its unique factors, and sometimes unexpected issues may arise. For example, a LIM or building report during a property transaction might reveal an unforeseen issue, or a separation agreement may involve complex negotiations. In these situations, we will always alert you and discuss the best strategy to manage costs and achieve the desired outcome.

Our fees are competitive, and we offer a reduced fee structure for first-time home buyers. If you’re changing banks and need to switch your mortgage, the fee may increase if the borrower is a company or a trust, or if personal guarantees are required. However, we do our best to work within your budget and provide estimates upon request.

Our fees are based on criteria approved by the New Zealand Law Society, which include the time spent, skill and knowledge required, importance, urgency, complexity, and results achieved. We always aim to keep our pricing fair and reasonable.

Will Preparation Service

At Toner Law, we believe in the importance of having a valid Will. Whether you want to create a new Will or update an existing one, feel free to call or email us, and we’ll provide you with our Will instruction form.

Managing Costs and Disbursements

In addition to legal fees, your final statement may include disbursements (payments to third parties, such as LINZ fees, registration costs, etc.) and a small bureau fee to cover office services like photocopying and postage. These are charged at actual cost or the best estimate. For your convenience, we can issue interim invoices while work is in progress or allow you to pay by installments over time.
