Mike Toner
Principal
Circa 1979 - Mike graduated with a law degree from Canterbury University and a few years later made the move north to Tauranga with a young family in tow. One simply cannot replace the depth of knowledge of Mike and the valuable experience he has accumulated which he now expertly and effortlessly hands on to his staff.
These days, he takes a gentler approach, spending his free time fishing, playing golf, travelling with his three children and their families. He remains an avid rugby fan, albeit a spectator these days. Mike specialises in all aspects of general law. He particularly enjoys advising clients on property transactions (buying and selling of property, investment properties, the sale and purchase of business, small subdivision’s and cross-lease arrangements); trust and estate work.
Emily Toner
Solicitor/Partner
Emily, Mike’s daughter, joined the firm in 2016. After completing her law degree Emily spent two years working as a Judges’ Clerk at the Auckland High Court, and then worked in criminal law at the Crown Prosecutors.
Emily has returned to Tauranga and thrives on the relaxed, friendly environment at our firm and the relationships that we have with our clients. Emily enjoys practising in a range of areas such as conveyancing, relationship property/family trusts and estate planning. Her work includes preparing detailed documentation and thorough due diligence on all matters. Always approachable, always wearing a huge smile – Emily’s clients appreciate her professional manner and attention to detail.
Deb Boyd-Collins
Registered Legal Executive
Deb is, and has been, the backbone of our company. Since 2001 Deb and Mike have worked alongside each other and watched this business flourish. Deb is a Registered Legal Executive and a Registered Conveyancer. Over time Deb has built up a very strong rapport with her clients. Deb now works with the next generation of those established clients bearing testimony to her dedication, experience and connection with individuals. Deb specialises in conveyancing, commercial, Trusts, and estate planning.
Amanda Gould

Amanda Gould is an experienced Registered Legal Executive with a career spanning over 22 years. Since obtaining registration in 2006, she has developed a robust expertise across various areas of law.
Primarily focused on residential conveyancing and deceased estates, she has worked successfully and navigated numerous complex transactions, ensuring that clients receive the best possible outcomes. She also has valuable experience in subdivisions, cross-lease conversions, family law, Occupation Right Agreements, trusts and estate planning.
With a commitment to providing exceptional legal services, Amanda has built a reputation for attention to detail and a client-centred approach. Her extensive knowledge and dedication to the legal field make her a trusted advisor in all matters concerning property and estate law.
Abby Attwood
Legal Executive
Abby has been a valued member of Toner Law since 2021. During her time with Toner Law, Abby has completed her legal executive training, and successfully qualified in 2023. Abby now teams with Emily as a legal executive in conveyancing, particularly with first home buyers; ensuring that clients receive the support they need throughout the property purchasing process. With an enthusiasm for helping individuals achieve their homeownership dreams, Abby is committed to providing exceptional service and guidance.
Bernadette Breese
Legal Assistant
Bernie is our latest addition. Bernie is a dedicated legal assistant currently working with us in a support role to us all. Adept at turning her hand to most matters legal Bernie makes the complexities more manageable. With a solid foundation in real estate from her previous role in the Bay of Plenty, many years in the customer service industry, ORAs and an attention to detail, Bernie brings a sound knowledge to her current position.
